Hello there! Today I decided that I wanted to do a short little list of the books based on World War II and the Holocaust and the books that I want to read in this sub genre of Historical Fiction. I don’t know what it is, but I have been on Nazi Germany kick. I think that the way that some authors have portrayed those horrific events is priceless and I just want to get my hands on all the books that I can about this topic. Please if you have any suggestions, please let me know!
First we will start with the books that I have read. It is a few, but I know there are plenty more out there.
– The Diary of Anne Frank
– Night- Elie Wiesel
– Between Shades of Gray- Ruta Sepetys
– Salt to the Sea- Ruta Septeys
– The Storyteller- Jodi Picoult
– The Boy in the Striped Pajames- John Boyne
– The Book Thief- Markus Zusak
I am sure that there are a few more that I have read, but this is all that I found on my Goodreads’ Read Shelf. I have to say that I loved all of these. They were all amazing. Looking at this list, I think that the one that tore me up the most was The Boy in the Striped Pajamas. Right after I read this, I watched the movie and it broke my heart even more. I was beside my self for a few days.
Now let’s get to the books that I want to read. I will put a star next to the books that I own, so that I can get an idea of the books that I have, verses that ones that I still need to get.
– The Nightingale- Kristin Hannah
– All the Light We Cannot See- Anthony Doer
– The Orphan’s Tale- Pam Jenoff*
– Wolf by Wolf- Ryan Graudin*
– Blood for Blood- Ryan Graudin
– Schindler’s List- Thomas Keneally*
– Prisoner of Night and Fog- Anne Blankman*
– Conspiracy of Blood and Smoke- Anne Blankman*
– Code Name Verity- Elizabeth Wein
– Rose Under Fire- Elizabeth Wein
So there you have it. These are the books that I have read based off of World War II and Nazi Germany and the books that I want to read. Let me know in the comments any of your recommendations and what book I should read next!
